Baby Boy’s Nursery Favorites

When we found out we were having a boy….. we actually didn’t believe the doctor!! But after multiple times of them telling us, and showing us, we finally believed them!! And we could not have been more excited to bring some boy energy to our house!

We also felt really at peace knowing our family was officially complete. Not only because we are at capacity [physically and mentally!!] but also because we have been blessed beyond what we ever could have imagined.

Since we have two girls, decorating a room for a boy was really exciting!! For years we have decorated with pink, purple and bows. Now the time has come for BLUE!

There are so many things about my son’s nursery that are special to me. We used the same crib that my girls used, the same rocking chair that I rocked them so tiredly in, and a piece of furniture that my dad made when my first daughter was born. He made a convertible changing table/chair out of my crib when I was a baby- it will forever be a special piece a furniture and memory for us!

Although I love everything about his room, including how clean it always is compared to my girls’ rooms, I want to share a few of my favorite things about his room!

First is this beautiful board and batten wall that my husband did. This project was VERY easy and did not take him long at all. If you want a tutorial on this let me know and I can do that! Not only do I love the look of board and batten, but the color of blue is just perfect! It is by Berh in the shade Half Sea Fog. It’s not too blue, not too feminine and not too burly. It truly is the best shade for a baby boy!

Another big favorite of mine are these watercolor Etsy prints. When I started decorating his room, I knew I wanted shades of blue, green and brown and I wanted an outdoor theme. His Daddy loves to fish, hunt and shoot clay pigeons. So when I came across these prints, I knew immediately that this was my theme and that I had to have these! I purchased four prints- two for each side of the window.

I bought the Ford Bronco, the Fish, the Mallard Duck and the German Shorthaired Pointer all in size 11x14. And I framed them in this neutral brown frame from Amazon. Mine are in the color oak.

A small but essential loved item in his room is this mushroom style table lamp. I have this on a tall dresser (that I DIY-ed) and it’s the perfect size. It also gives off just enough light to do some mid-night feedings and diaper changes, but it’s not so bright that it will blend you and baby!

This lamp also really brings in the blue from the accent wall and since the other walls in his room are white it’s a good contrast! It also comes in a matte black which I debating getting for my living room!!

And to add a little bit more of an outdoor touch, I added these cute… I mean boy-ish table books that are “The Little Book” series. There are lots of different ones, but I choose Camping, Wilderness, and Route 66.

Lastly, the final touch of blue was something we already had. These blue buffalo checked curtains are from Amazon and were the perfect addition to his room. These are the best shade of blue and I of course love that I didn’t have to buy anything extra!!

Thanks for taking a room tour with me! <3
